Not a Civil War: In 2013, the western media begins using the term civil war to refer to the Syrian revolution… while in reality it is becoming less and less of a Syrian civil war, as foreign fighters and extremists spill across the border seizing the opportunity to hijack the now fractured revolution… a geopolitical chess match plays out over the use of chemical weapons and captures the headlines… meanwhile, I read an article about a river in Aleppo where people gather every day to retrieve and identify hundreds of dead bodies floating down stream… a grim reality… a powerful metaphor… the beginning of a new song.
